If I were Italian I'd be worrying that they'd played so well but its still 0-0.

Don't worry.

Filippo Inzaghi will come in and score the winning goal.

Possibly with his butt.

Cheers.

Really quality stuff so far. High energy, attacking soccer. Long overdue this tournament. It going to come down to fitness, whoever can maintain this pace the longest, wins.

Of course, my judgment may be clouded by the fact that I've chosen to watch the Univision coverage today. No excessive replays, no pub shots, and, most important, not Gawdawful ABC graphics. You can actually see the game.

"Hope today finds the players in good form and the ref far from secondary in the outcome."

So far the ref has been impeccable and hope he continues to be so.

"If I were Italian I'd be worrying that they'd played so well but its still 0-0."

Yep, I tend to think that way too. Germany seem to be missing Frings, yet they've still had the best chance, even if Italy have threatened more often.

I'm going for Germany.

Agreed -- the ref has a good handle on this game. The play's been physical, but it doesn't look like anything's going to boil over (at least yet...)

Hopefully now that you've been watching the match won't feel so nervous. Italy has been controlling the match in the first half, but it's still anybody's match.

Forza Azzurri! I almost see you in the final.

“So far the ref has been impeccable and hope he continues to be so.”

I agree.

*Sigh* this always happens though - early on the refs go mental with the cards then later they calm it down after the inevitable outrage from fans of just about every team. FIFA never learn.

Hahaha...either that, or an Italian player will accidentally score while taking a dive.

Come on Germany.

Still anyone's game. Germany misses Prings in the midfield. Germany is starting to look more dangerous. If Italy scores first, they go into their “Catenaccio,” and the game is over.

Yes, that is a hope for the second half. But Germany showed signs of cynicism in fouling toward the end of the first half. That could escalate matters.

Heh, about two weeks ago I was saying to the Germans that I would struggle to see the circumstances where the English would just support Germany (I just meant due to the football rivalry) yet here we are. Funny old game.

I actually like both of these teams. But I'm cheering for Germany to annoy all my friends who told me before the WC that Germany had no chance.

"You Can't write off the Germans".

Absolutely. Everyone here had written off Germany before a ball was kicked.
We're back home and they're still in it.
