Ignore all the pit bull defenders on this thread. They are clueless about a breed that has killing bred into it.

You should demand that your vet bills be covered, or file a lawsuit against the owners of the dogs. Dogs that jump a fence to attack a dog could very well attack a kid, as you say.

Call an attorney. On Wednesday. No jury in the world will side with the owner of these dogs.

In CA, this is a small claims case. I have discussed the matter with an attorney. He thinks it's possible to get a judge to agree to the damages, especially since there's been a report on these dogs before.

After that, it's getting a city ordinance banning the dogs. In the meantime, I need to find out what the local penalties are for having a dog that has two animal control complaints filed. Me thinks our animal control is "dogging it."

Personally, I'm not concerned about "pitbull defenders". For someone to argue that humans should tolerate a threatening environment because of the rights of a dog is ridiculous.

Your full of BS. An honest jury hearing ALL the evidence would put the blame where it rightly belongs.....on the owner of the dog that was breaking the law by allowing their dog to roam loose, especially since this appears to be a regular habit. This person just doesn't want to face responsibility and admit they were the guilty party so are trying to shift the blame.

Hypothetical question. Answer it if you feel inclined.

A free roaming dog comes into your yard.
Your bichons, without leaving your property, attack the roaming dog.

Who is responsible for the vet bills?
