I was never that big a fan of RVD, to be honest. I found that he didn't put on very credible matches and that he just chained his set of highspots together, and I never found his matches compelling. Still, he has some talent and deserved this shot. He blew it, though - nobody to blame but himself.

This is wrestling, though - he can vanish for 6 months and come back. Thing is, after Eddie's death, Vinnie Mac loses all his cred if he goes light on RVD and Sabu. He really has to be fair here, and that means get rid of both of them (and certainly, get rid of RVD as WWE/ECW champ. Word is 1/2 of that is already done.

I'm reluctant to put the ECW title on a WWE convert, but they don't have many options. Big Show is as good a choice as any, I suppose. The roster is thin on all three brands for a championship caliber guy.

Would really create heat if Cena beats RVD for the ECW title. That gives ECW a champ their fans will pay to see lose, and gives Vinnie Mac a chance to groom someone to beat him. If Raven and Rhyno weren't with TNA, that would help a lot, and same with the Dudleys to fill up the ECW roster. They all have contracts I hear, so they won't show up on ECW anytime soon.

Carlito in my book is still a midcard comedy act. He is being groomed to win the IC title, I suspect, but to me he is still a comedy act (and a so-so one at that).

I agree with you about Carlito. He's just a clown.

I think the reason Carlito is a mid card comedy act isn't his fault. As with so many heels who show charisma, the WWE turned Carlito face way too soon, before Carito had established he was capable of genuine evil. Before the Rock turned face, he did some terrible things--- he left Stone Cold to drown in the Detroit River, for instance. Faces need to have done those kinds of things as heels to have an edge.

I disagree as far as RVD-- I think his high spots are better than most other high spot artists and he can chain wrestle as well as do high spots, and that he has a fairly unique mix of agility, strength and odd skills. But I know where you're coming from, I think--- RVD has never been a master of ring psychology. I still think a lot of his matches, such as those against Lesnar and Lance Storm to name two, were pretty good.

The thing is, when RVD was in ECW, he was pushed as being an almost unstoppable heel. In the current WWE, the only people who get that kind of push are Cena type faces, 3H and the big, big men. Look at Mysterio's "run"--- he's been made to look far weaker as champion than he was leading up to his championship.

Back in the Attitude era and before that, it was well established that there were different ways to be at the top of the game--- thus the great Final Four ppv with Vader, UT, Stone Cold and Bret Hart, none of whom were dominant in the same way as any of the others, but each of whom were at the top.

I don't think it's the roster that's thin--- I think it's their creative juices.

I kind of agree, but disagree. How is it that 2 guys who were on the cover of High Times magazine weren't nailed by the wellness progam before this? I mean, Mercury is in rehab and Chris Masters got nailed for 'roids. I tend to believe they are only catching the violators they want to catch.
ECW is in trouble, big time. Paul Heyman has no control over ECW, it's all Vince's deal. He's not letting ECW be ECW and that's why by September, the new DVD will be "the rise and fall and rise and fall of ECW".
And don't get me started on Edge and the buffet of STDs known as Lita. Don't cheat on your wife, but especially not with your best friends girl.
