I can see some potential dilemmas here. You wouldn't want your wife to be so heavy you couldn't carry her but you also want a chance at winning a lot of beer.

I guess the upside-down method might be better for balance, but don't think my wife would be thrilled about being carried upside-down through the pool of water.

he whole thing seems rather sexist. Now it might be more politically correct if my wife could carry me in one of these races. Besides I'm much heavier than my wife.

Of course the heavier she is, the more you have to drink to make her attractive. So you have to optimize the weight such that the next marginal pound of beer outweighs the decreased attractiveness of the wife.
Things like this are why we spend four years going to college. :)
