The quarterfinal round concludes with a pair of enticing match-ups. The day's first match pits England against Portugal (10:30 a.m. ET, ABC) in Gelsenkirchen, while a rematch of the 1998 final between Brazil and France (3:00 p.m. ET, ESPN) will wrap the Round of 8.

I think one problem with the entire US soccer program is arrogance. It shows in all the announcers - they've really inflated themselves to a higher level than they actually performed.
I can smell the tears coming for Brazil. Viera.
On your first point, you're right. I might be changing the channel, too, if I weren't able to watch in HD. As far as that goes, the fact that all 64 games are provided by ABC/ESPN in high definition kind of glosses over the lame commentating, perhaps for me?
On your second point, I can't argue with you. So since I think Eric's the most arrogant of the bunch, I'll place most of the blame on him. :-)
(And speaking as a mom, I can tell you first hand that the AYSO program for kids is mind-bogglingly idiotic, socialist, aggravating, and intrusive. As much as I love soccer (and my kids love soccer) I refuse to let them participate. It's that bad. So the types of people coming out of that system and calling it great, REALLY give me pause. I don't know what's going to happen to American soccer.)
SCORE FRANCE!
Vive La France!
HENRY!!!!!!!!
I'm glad Henry got it, it should tamp down some of the criticism for his offsides...
How do you say "Who's Your Daddy" in French?
????? Is France any good? I watched their group games and they did badly. I watched a few minutes of this game and they're doing really well. :( Oh, well. All the bettter for Germany if France wins.
Qui est votre papa?
Yep, VIVE L´EQUIPE, VIVE LA FRANCE!!! France is the Angst-opponent for Brazil, and we can only hope they kick Fatboy Ronaldo and his fellows out.
I love Henry's lack of emotion right after he scored, he knows there is still a long way to go.
Their group play did not glitter. But they made it.
Now they have a fighting chance to the semis!
Upset in the making.
The infamous Brazil defensive lapse! Almost an own goal.
Let the panic begin.
Yes, AYSO has a bad case of elitism. In fact, many think our national team was favorites picked by elitism, not the best skilled players. In other words, the families of these players paid their way to get them to the national team.
Great assessment lainie!
qui a votre papa though that's more like "who is your father," [Darth Vader inhale]
Zero shots on goal for Brazil. Not good.
LOL! "Henry?"
France needs one more goal at least. They are not going to hold Brazil scoreless.
