STRASBOURG, France (AP) - A doping scandal knocked Tour de France favorites Jan Ullrich and Ivan Basso out of the race Friday and threw the world's most glamorous cycling event into chaos.
The decision to bar Ullrich, Basso and others implicated in a doping probe in Spain also sent a strong signal that cheating, or even suspicions of cheating, will not be tolerated.

Oh, I'm sorry, I see you predicted Boonen or McEwan for the green jersey, not the overall win. And in that, you are almost certainly correct.

"For all we know, the spanish unit "investigating" this could be as much on the up and up as the prosecutor's office in Durham North Carolina."
Spanish riders have been implicated, too. In fact, the first to fall was Manolo Saiz, manager of the Spanish team Liberty Seguros-Wurth, who was caught red-handed exchanging a suitcase full of cash for a suitcase full of doped blood products. The whole thing is like a bad movie. I think these latest riders who were suspended were photographed visiting the offices of the two doctors who were involved in the Saiz transaction.

George Hincapie will win.
Leipheimer has been hot lately, he is confident, he has a good team. If an American wins, my money is on him. But I would certainly not object to a Hincapie win! I'm wearing a Discovery hat as I type this message.

A long-time "domestique" has never won the TDF, but there's a first time for everything.

To finish my point: the two doctors involved in the Saiz transaction are a gynecologist and a hemotologist. Now, why would Basso and Ullrich be visiting the offices of a gynecologist? lol
