FYI the "I" in IBM is for "International". Most of their employees and business are outside the US, and have been for years.

That's what happens when an American company gets big enough to dominate the worldwide industry. It's kind of hard to provide close support, consulting and sales around the globe if all of your employees are sitting in the US.
