What did the child's illness have to do with leaving him in a hot car for four hours?

Personally, I don't agree with it. They are essentially take the responsibility away from the mother by saying the child had a responsibility to cry. IMO this doesn't really pass muster. What if it were a healthy child who was simply asleep?
On the other hand, being a bit forgetful myself, I can easily see how it happened and am sure the mother blames herself and is probably beyond hysterical at this point and likely needs sedation.
