I'd wait until a couple of months after Vista is released. Probably early next year. Why buy a new machine with an old OS?

I would not consider buying a MSFT product ntil it has been out for at least a year and sone of the major bugs are fixed or at least known.

Vista I believe will be out right after New Years. I myself am considering buying a new machine toward the end of the year with XP to avoid the DRM crap that is included in Vista.
I would like to say before anyone goes ape about stealing music: I like the idea of doing what I want with music, or anything else I buy, short of copying and selling, or offering in a file sharing environment (pirating), in other words if I buy a CD, or download a song (and pay for it) and I own six automobiles I then make six copies one for each car it's my business, not the RIAA, and certainly not Windows Vista which cuts you off at some number of duplicates. So after going on too long I plan to avoid Windows Vista for as long as I can, which IMO the way the market is today is about 4 maybe 5 years.
