Survey of 1,000 Adults
June 19-20

How closely have you watched the World Cup Tournament?

Very Closely 6%
Somewhat Closely 15%
Not Very Closely 31%
Not At All 47%

That means, according to Rasmussen's poll, 21% of the American population is watching the World Cup "somewhat closely" or higher.

Add in another 31% for "not very closely" which strikes me as watching some of it.

SO, WE HAVE 52% of 300 million, or 156 MILLION PEOPLE WHO DID WATCH SOME OF THE WORLD CUP GAMES, with 63 MILLION PEOPLE FOLLOWING THE TOURNAMENT SOMEWHAT CLOSELY OR VERY CLOSELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only 47% for "not at all" did not watch any coverage (unless they caught some highlights on ESPN).

Hi All-

For anyone who thinks that soccer doesn't have a "draw" for viewership, just read this brief Forbes.com article. They predict a BILLION people to watch the final on television on Saturday, July 9th @ 2:00 p.m. ET.
