Yes, but in her defense she is a basically a first time novelist whose first book was so successful it has taken all her energy.


Tolkien was a scholar both of language and historic British literary themes - you'd expect a bit more sophistication.

I'm sorry I don't know how to post links to back myself up but, JKR graduated with honors from Exeter University. She studied French and Classics.

As she states in the above article, she had the last chapter of book seven written in 1990. Sorcerer's Stone came out in 1998. She'd been planning this series for years.
