I love having Mondays off. Woke up just in time for most of the second half of Italy/Australia. I didn't get to see Australia in Group play, but they're a ragged, tough side. Look forward to them in the future. Maybe we can arrange a Pan-Pacific Cup of some sort for 2008.
How's it hanging on your end?
Some great penalties so far :-P
What did I say? Two attempts and still no goal...
BBC commentators saying by far the worst match of the tournament.
Well, that was one cheeky penalty for Ukraine.
And Switzerland hits the cross bar.
Swiss in deep doo doo.
Ukraine took it.
Shocking penalties by Switzerland.
I don't think the Italians have much to worry about against Ukraine.

Hanging, but not for Svizzera...
The worst match was England against little T&T.
The beeb can pull Beckham again.
Still though for the Swiss 390 minutes without giving up a goal, but at this stage you have to be able to score.
Agreed. Both sides have shown signs of ability in rare, isolated moments. One would expect the winner of this match to be smashed in the next round, but I am not so sure, actually. I'm certainly looking forward to it.
That was beyond a cheeky penalty score by Ukraine. It was total quality.
Ukraine's goalkeeper wins it without giving up a single penalty.
WOW!
LOL
You've got to admit, those were some of the worst taken penalties ever. What possesses people to shoot low and just to the left or right of the keeper?
There's lots of elements in a penalty. The pressure is on the shooter. The goalie is often expected to just guess to give himself a chance. Players will often shoot down the middle or just a little to one side or the other knowing the goalie is really at their mercy.
Bottom line: great, great play by the goalkeeper to ice the Swiss.
The goalie beat the Swiss shooters. It's as simple as that. The other keeper stopped one which is great in itself. But not when the oppossing keeper totally snuffs your team.
Amazing!
