Yes, the defender who defends the defense. I can watch the play over and over and it's just an unfortunate play by the defender in the wrong place.
Tough for the Aussies. But if you don't score a man up and make that mistake, you lose.
It seemed to me that the Beckham kick was touched by someone when it was on the way. Not having TIVO I couldnt play it back but wondered if that helped the ball into the net.
No question a very tough way to go out of the tournament.
But they have to look at what they failed to do a man up as well.
Looks like their brilliant coach failed to push soon enough.
But Italy has yet to be scored upon as well so not an easy task for anyone even a man up today.
Aussies should be proud of their tournament.
The US had the entire second half to score......ah, wait till next time!
They will however probably lose to Ukraine, unless there is some more good diving in the penalty box from their discredited players, some of whom are currently being investigated in Italy for irregularities. (And could end up playing in the Italian third division if they are punished for cheating.)
The winner of the Germany Argentina match will coast into the final.
The probable England Argentina final is a mouth-watering prospect. Hopefully, some of you neutrals will support the Mother Country.
No it wasn't, unless you are confusing it with Beckham's other freekick in the first round match against Paraguay.
Also reading on My Way that the ref for yesterday's Portugal game will be going back to teaching. His performance was unacceptable and left the game in a state of near anarchy!
Italy is a very difficult team to beat at the best of times.
Heck, Italy beat Norway with one goal in the round of sixteen in 1998. In 1994, Italy beat us 1-0 playing with 10 men for large parts of the game.
I feel with with Aussies tonight.
Fortunately, watching England cruch the divas from Portugal this saturday should make things right again :-)
I'm not neutral -- England all the way.
Thanks. I'm watching on the spanish channel so I have to rely on visual interpretation........LOL.
I would hate being a kid in his class.
He would keep on sending angry letters to the parents, and send everyone to the principals office :-)
Having lived in England for 6 years, 5 in Harrogate (Leeds United Supporters), I will most certainly back England. But I lived in Italy as well, and there I really got into soccer. I was for AC Milan before it became fashionable. I suport Italy all the way, but if they get booted, I got your back..
2-0 Switzerland BTW. Bank it.
I will no question support England to the last breath in a final against Germany.
Crossing fingers for a Serie A match of Italy vs. Ukraine with a battle between Toni v. Shevchenko. Could be the last big Serie A game for a while. :(
England still have a handful with a beaten up Portugal. I never look ahead in these games. It's not my way.
My dad was born in Argentina.
One way or another, it should be a very exciting game..
Bias runs thru their veins.
I was at the Italy-Norway game and instantly remembered it when the stupid red card came out.
I was at the Italy -Norway game. I was sitting next to a Norway fan who was silent most of the game.
England although lackluster has played fair and I look to a fair one on both sides in the Quarters with Portugal. The Dutch were a disappointment with their assault on Ronaldo. I'd like to hear Van Basten's comment on that.
Okay, that makes sense.
