The child spent the entire evening at a Christmas party in the neighborhood. No doubt she came into contact with dozens of people at that party. No doubt she sat on the lap of many adults at the party. It is logical that unless she had been bathed and soaked in a tub for a long time, that all kinds of matter would have been under her fingernails.

Wrong - taking a bath would remove matter under someones fingernails not put it in. It also does not explain how DNA was found in her underwear at autopsy. A DNA profile that to this day can not be matched though run routinely through CODIS.
