Superheroes: fighting crime, fighting hemorrhoids By Eric Heyl TRIBUNE-REVIEW Friday, June 23, 2006
Crime fighting lesbians might only be the beginning.
DC Comics recently announced the soon-to-be revived Batwoman character will do more than battle evildoers. She also will display a libidinal fondness for the ladies.
(Here is where I resist the temptation to say: Not that there's anything wrong with that. Not that there's anything wrong with using that oft-quoted Seinfeldism, except for the fact it has become a cliche.)

This sounds fishy.
How about Robin? I've always thought that he might be just a bit light in his loafers.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. - Mandatory PC Disclaimer.
Not even new thinking. Way back in the late Stone Age - maybe 1989 or 1990 - Marvel Comics had a character named Northstar with the Canadian superpower group Alpha Flight who came out of the closet. Batwoman will now enter the gated community inhabited by Ellen Degeneris and Rosie O'Donnell; no one will dare mention anything but praise about the artistry, no one will actually watch it or buy it, and a brave few will hold up the material as an expression of gay pride.
I do have fond memories of Batwoman on television back in my boyhood, however, as one of the sparks for my heterosexual interests just forming. Emma Peel, too. LOL
The TV character was Batgirl, not Batwoman. Batgirl (both Batgirls, actually) are still heterosexual. This Batwoman is a character last seen in 1979.
Hey, and now that I think about it, the character I remembered was Catwoman.
