If the prosecution wants to have this nurse as an "expert witness", then the defense gets to know who they are - if only because the person's identity will reveal the experience and expertise they do or do not hold. Some curly haired male Nifong mouthpiece from Durham said Nifong doesn't have to reveal his witness list till trial.

When being interviewed for jury duty here in NC, I distinctly being showed a list of potential witnesses in the upcoming murder trial and asked whether I knew anyone on the list.

He is wrong. Certainly with expert witnesses he must reveal them long enough in advance that the defense experts can examine and test their opinions. I suspect he must list all potential witnesses but does not have to call all of them.
