The U.S. national team goes into Thursday's Group E finale against Ghana (9:55 a.m. ET, ESPN) knowing that it must come up with a win to have any chance of moving to the Round of 16.
All four teams in Group E, including the USA, still have a chance to advance. The U.S. must beat a tough Ghana side to have any chance of moving to the knockout phase. Should Bruce Arena's team be able to secure three points against the Africans, whom they meet at 9:55 a.m. ET on ESPN, they will need Italy to beat the Czech Republic in a simultaneous match, which can be seen live on ESPN2. The U.S. is not mathematically eliminated with a Czech draw or win, but will need a big victory over Ghana to avoid being eliminated on goal difference.

I think Spain could take them. Who would the winner of that match then play?
Gerd Mueller wasn't in the best shape either, but that guy knew how to be at the right place at the right time. Being a good striker is all about instinct.
Always said the proof of the pudding is in the pie. They might quit ragging him if he keeps finding the net. Even if Ronaldo's hustle is a little less than 4 years ago, he knows how to set up a strike, he knows where to put the ball, and he still has moves.
SUI and KOR could play to a draw, leaving FRA out of the money. Right now SUI is +2 on GD, KOR is +1 and FRA is at 0. If FRA wins by only 1 then KOR could still beat them on GF -- right now KOR has 3 and FRA has 1. But if FRA beats TOG by 2 goals or more, they're in.
The only thing I remember about that guy was his stoopid website commercials. Nike flushed some cash down the drain on that deal.
It was that player, Simunic, who apparently received two yellows and one red card in the game. How does that happen?
Brazil or Ghana.
France - Brazil would be fun. Brazil would want revenge for 1998.
Spain - Brazil would also be fun, since so many Brazilians play in Spain.
I promise I didn't read your post before I posted. We pretty much had the same comments. I think Brazil let's Ronaldo sit up top and poke some in the net - he's good at that.
According to Swedish TV4, Poll messed up.
France will probably stuff Togo by about four goals, so the mathematics will be academic.
Talk about crashing the net!
France hasn't exactly been sterling recently against African teams, especially against their former colonies.
Maybe not one of the best skilled on the pitch but one of the best skilled that the US has produced. One "skill" he lacked was speed but on the international level you don't have everything in one package.
Remember Cobi Jones. All speed and like uh, no skill.
Sorry, I never liked Cobi. He chased a lot of balls straight down the to the goal one before clearing it through the goal line.
that's a yellow card eurotwit for issuing yourself a straight red
trudat, as I remember fondly when my knees were good: about four operations ago.
:( Both Brazil games before this I had ronaldo as my Brazil captain on the Fifa fantasy game. This game I changed it Ronaldhino or whoever he is. This game ronaldo got 25 fantasy game points. So I lost nearly 25 points. :(
I think history was made today.
First player with three yellow cards in a game :-)
Does that mean he's banned from the next World Cup?
