The U.S. national team goes into Thursday's Group E finale against Ghana (9:55 a.m. ET, ESPN) knowing that it must come up with a win to have any chance of moving to the Round of 16.
All four teams in Group E, including the USA, still have a chance to advance. The U.S. must beat a tough Ghana side to have any chance of moving to the knockout phase. Should Bruce Arena's team be able to secure three points against the Africans, whom they meet at 9:55 a.m. ET on ESPN, they will need Italy to beat the Czech Republic in a simultaneous match, which can be seen live on ESPN2. The U.S. is not mathematically eliminated with a Czech draw or win, but will need a big victory over Ghana to avoid being eliminated on goal difference.

Score ghana
GOOOALLLL! Ghana :(
Ghana scores, and Reyna is down.
Oh dear.
Crap!!
Ghana scores and Reyna is down.
nice drive by Ghana - US def was flat-footed. Renya lost the ball on a one-on-one.
Yep...
You couuld almost see Reyna's knee bend. He's out
Doesn't look good for Reyna?
His knee? ancle? Or did the Ghana player step on his foot?
ANyhow, now the Tzechs definetly have to score, so this goal impacts on the other game as well.
Just saw the slow play. The Ghanan took it legally I think. But then he shot a couple of kicks extra that kicked Reyna. Legal maybe but not very ... nice.
ITAL - 1
Czech - 0
1-0 ITALY!!!! Come on USA, we need 2!!!
An early lead for Ghana is going to force a result in the other game. If the US won or tied Ghana, then Italy and the Czech Republic could have asily just cruised to a tie and both advanced.
The US wants to see a result in the other game, preferably a win for Italy. Ghana taking an early lead might actually help bring that about.
Now all we need to do is score the next two goals.
ANd Italy scores.
Materazzi.
Italy scores...WOOHOO!
Italy scores!
YEAH! Go Italy/US
Is Reyna coming back in? I thought I saw he was up and then the Ghana GK went down...
You called it.
