A dog with a fondness for doughnuts was blamed for a fire Sunday that damaged a Ridgefield-area home.
Nobody was home when the fire started, said Capt. Ben Meacham with Fire District 11, but county investigators said the blaze started when a dog jumped up onto a stove in the kitchen.
"They had left doughnuts on the stove, and the dog jumped up onto the stove to get the doughnuts and flipped on the burner," Meacham said.
"The burner set the box on fire, and the fire spread from the kitchen into the attic," Meacham said.
The fire at 2819 N.E. 188th Circle, east of the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, was reported at about 10:15 a.m. Meacham said investigators estimated the damage at about $75,000.
Speaking as an LEO, I think we need that dog on the force!
Is the dog okay?

The dog, home alone when the fire started, escaped injury.
Something similar happened to one of my son's teachers...only it was her cat that supposedly flipped a burner and burnt up the kitchen.
"...In related news, the name of the dog has been confirmed as 'Santa's Little Helper,' who belongs to the Homer J. Simpson family..."
