I have been catching Star Trek TNG on Spike TV. I always get a laugh the the United Nations is the leader of the Federation. Picard refers to the 20th century as the old nations states and slams working for money.

Picard was also French. It showed in his battle tactics. The Feringi would be firing on the Enterprise and instead of firing back, he would open hailing frequencies to find out why they are firing on him. True French.

"I'd give good money to see a film version of "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex," ..."

At last! Somebody else who's read that!

I noticed in the promos that the new Superman takes a bullet in the eye. No harm ... he's Superman, don'tcha know...

The dominant empires of the Alpha Quadrant put together the DNA fragments

Ding, ding, ding...That's the one!

I enjoyed it because it was one of the few where you didn't see where the story was going within the first ten minutes.

Yep, Picard had a spine of Jell-O, but the character made some improvements over the years. By the time TNG ended, Picard had at least one 'nad. Personally, I would have preferred Riker or Worf as the head honchos on that roundup.

On the other hand, DS9 evolved nicely with good plots, character development, and some ripping good action - it was more like classic Trek. Heck, I really grew to like the Ferengi in DS9.
