It did seem the US strategy was to foul the Italians a lot to keep them from developing any rhythm. The US fouled a lot. But if it works, then whatever it takes.
True enough. The Italians did not really have a coherent game play for the first half. The US did foul a bit excessively, but the minor stuff does not bother me as a tactical tool if not used too aggressively. Overt gross fouls should be called every time. Borderline game play fouls should be overlooked unless a player abuses it repeatedly.
