Small companies get away with murder.

Not in my case.

I tried to do something about it. But the boss lied about everything, denying anyone had threatened me ,and no one else would stand by me. With no leg to stand on, I just crawled away.

Remember, that was 19 years ago. I was still a kid.

I would NOT have "taken things so lightly", nowdays.

I always thought the big companies got away with murder.

Small companies get away with murder.

Well since we are talking about work horror stories, I've been there too, in my case, my boss was supposed to pay for our health insurance but he didn not and we didn't know it. At that time, January 200, I slipped on ice getting out of my truck and cut my left hand open. It got infected, was in hospital for 5 days and had surgery. I almost lost all or part of my hand but I'm locky to get away with a scar and some nerve damage. Luckily my car insurance took care of it, a little known secret is anything involving you car, even getting in and out of it, you are covered for injuries. Mom worked in inusrance so she knew about it.

Adding insult to injury, he, the boss, called me about 20 minutes after I got out of recovery from surgery to talk him through a ocmputer problem, Mom said "no." Mom worked there too and he laid us off a couple of months later and my buddy a month after that. My buddy was so afraid to tell his mom, he hid out over my place, I was on medical disability, for a week and we played Playstation all day. I thank God I'm at where I'm at now.
