Can anyone tell me if Trinidad still has a chance to advance???

I think with Sweden's win yesterday, T&T was eliminated in all practicality -- I think they need England to beat Sweeden and T&T needs to beat Paraguay by a combined 3 or 4 goals to advance.

I think the more shocking development is that Paraguay, Poland, and Costa Rica are all eliminated after two matches each.

Thanks, I thought it was something like that regarding T&T. The tricky part is I don't think England or Sweden want to play Germany in Round 2 so that should be an interesting match.

You're right about Poland, Paraguay and Costa Rica. Let's hope for some more upsets, like say the Czech's and Italy : )

In order for T&T to advance, England must beat Sweden; if England wins by 1 goal then T&T must win by 3 to win outright. If England wins by 2 goals, T&T must win by 2 to win outright, and if England wins by 3 or more goals then T&T must merely win.

Now if the two teams are tied on goal differential, (Say if England wins by one and T&T wins by only 2, or if England wins by 2 and T&T wins by only 1), then the next tiebreaker is greater number of goals. Right now, T&T has 0 goals while Sweden has only 1. So T&T would have to score 2 more goals than Sweden in its final game. If it's only one more goal, then again the two teams are tied -- apparently there's some kind of coin flip if the teams are still tied.

Now yes, if Sweden ties England or even beats them, then T&T has no chance.
