If the subject isn't of interest, please stay away. This is a World Cup discussion thread, not a "which sport is better" discussion thread.

Has anyone seen this?
An avid reader of Da Vinci Code like conspiracy novels sent in the following
Argentina won the cup in 1978 and1986, added together, this makes: 3964.
Germany won in 1974 and 1990, together that makes: 3964.
Brazil won in 1970 and 1994, again that makes: 3964.
Brazil also won in 1962 and 2002, which again makes: 3964.
In 1966 and 1998 the cup was won by a European country and host, yes again: 3964.
So who will win this time? It is 2006 now, and 3964-2006=1958. The winner will therefore be the same country that won in 1958
BRAZIL So much for excitement this WC. Im sorry I spoiled it for you

Good luck to the USA against Italy.
And if that game goes against the Anglosphere, at least we can all watch France being beaten up by South Korea on Sunday.

Days Mexico is playing is always tough for me... do I cheer them on to show that CONCACAF is an up-and-coming region? Or, as USA's chief rival, do I hope that they get embarassed by Angola?
European rivalries don't have this problem... everyone already respects European football, so they can cheer for their rivals' opposition every time...

I love your World Cup threads. BUT, I dvr all the matches, so I can watch them at night. I'll have to abstain to avoid spoilers. This time of the year even radio news that usually have no idea that soccer exists at all can unexpectedly blurb the score. I appreciate the fewer of course, but...

GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL.
1-0 Argentina!!!!!!!!!!!
Saviola lays on a great pass for Maxi Rodriguez who started the move and he blasts it into the back of the net.
