To: Mr. Silverback
This is another one of Watie's tall tales. If you're keeping track, you've heard his claim that one of his direct ancestors rode with Quantrill. If it's the Freeman on the captured roster, he was killed in May, 1863. Another bunch of Watie's ancestors supposedly died at Point Pleasant POW camp.

And then there's the 92 killed in North Carolina. On other threads he's told us that they're all buried in a cemetery together with "KILLED BY THE YANKEES" or somesuch on their graves. Now, you'd think that if there was a massacre of this scale of women and children, with such tangible evidence as a cemetery full of accusatory headstones, that it would be better known? That everybody bitching about Sherman's war crimes would wave this bloody shirt? But no. It's only Watie who seems to know about this.

Unless he provides some tangible details--dates, unit, location--you can be assured that this is as much a piece of Watian BS as his story that there's a U-Boat captured by Texas privateers on display in a Galveston park.
