Quantrill is one of the best known officers in American history. Yet, searching on his name and the terms "4th" and "Fourth," I can find not one single mention of this unit name being applied to his command.

You say that Quantrill's unit fought under that name? Prove it. Point me to a website or book that documents that his command fought under that name.
