A lot of that is false spin in an effort to get more funding for police so the city budget can be spent on more gold bricks for stadiums, sidewalks, fountains, and public funded theaters.
I have no doubt it's spun a bit...but one can't help but notice the statistical increase in crime, which is correlated to the time that Houston started accepting Katrina evacuees.
We, in Houston, can't ignore the fact that New Orleans had the highest crime rate in the country...and we can't ignore the fact that many of that cities hardened criminals were relocated here on the tax payers dime.
Sure there's spin but, nevertheless, there is a problem to go along with that spin. Mayor White is capitalizing on the obvious. I am not a fan of his but I am not blind to the problem. Yeah, there was crime before...but Houston has become a lot worse in the past year, and the crime rate proves that.
