The Association encourages everyone to reconize that children are put at risk when threats are made to inflammatory and innaccurate reporting. The association is committed to ensuring that all children attending charter public schoolsn are not only receiving a high-quality education, but are able to do so in a stable enviornment. The threats against the school last thursday morning after a radio show reporter with Talk Radio 790 KABC appeared to the campus. According to the school, the individual failed to identify himself, and was observed by school parents taking pictures of the students. After the individual, identified as Sandy Welles, was asked to leave the campus in consideration of the children saftey, an unidentified person chased after Wells and confiscate the tape. Wells, was unhurt, subsequently filed a police report.

Last Thursday evening, school prinipal Marcos Aguilar called into the Larry Elder Show, during in which he apologized to the station and to Wells for the incident near school property. Aguilar assumed it to be a reaction to the saftey concern in the community on the alert against child predators. Given the fact the school is a public elementary school located in a dangerous neighborhood, Aguilar explained that the ongoing saftey of the elementary students is paramount

On Friday morning, the elementary school was a victim of a bomb threat that force the full evacuation of the school. The school has reported ongoing threats against it ever since.

The Association is encouraging the public,in light of the continued threats against the school,to keep the saftey of primary imprtance. The Association will remained focused on seeing that the school be held accountable under the lau for raising student achievement, and will work with its authorizer,LAUSD, to ensure that all appropriate infromation on the school is fairly and thoroughly reviewed, as it called for under charter law.

The Association is aslo encouraging various news outlets, namely certain "blogs"(hint, hint) to chick out the facts prior to publishing or posting any information. Over the last several days, statements made on several Web sites(hint, hint) and talk radio and cable news services have been proven inaccurate. These include statements that lead the public to believe that the principal ordered the attack on the reporter, that the school does not admit non-Hispanic student and the principal refuses to speak to non-Hispanic media.

Regarding these innacurate statements, which continue to be disseminated, the principal has spoken on the record to clarify these allegations and is available for further comment. A brief check with the Department of Education's web site will show that the school is serving a student population as nearby public elementary schools, including Black,Native,White and Filipino students. Furthermore, in appreciation of other cultures, the school offerers courses in Mandrin,Nahuatl and Tai Chi.

Prepare to Barf The Following are recent innaccurate headlines and reports and its principal Marcos Aguilar, posted on various web sites and cited by Talk Radio 190 KABC:

"Principal allegedly gave orders to "thug" who drove on the curb, takled radio man-World Net Daily June 1,2006

Yeah, I'm sure it was all just an unfortunate misunderstanding.

Some punkass "Principal."

Here is more propaganda :

http://la.indymedia.org/news/2006/06/162705.php
Minutemen Target Children: The Attack on Academia Semillas del Pueblo

"It was in this climate, and after a month of on-air harassment by the radio station, that KABC sent in a reporter to demand an interview from the Academia. According to La Opinion, the Spanish language daily owned by the LA Times, he walked into the charter school insisting that he would interview its principle. Told he had no appointment and that he would not be granted an interview, he then insisted on interviewing schoolchildren and their parents on school grounds. Refused permission by a security guard, he nonetheless persisted. "

"One report claims he was attacked by a crowd; another says a van drove straight toward him and a single driver cursed and manhandled him. Supposedly the driver – or the van full of youth, depending on which version you read - then followed Wells, although the reporter got no license plate number. The reporter, who has nothing but his word and an obvious axe to grind, works for a Disney-owned station that takes migrant bashing to the bank – whether the migrants are children or not. "

"After the threat, minutemen lurked in a café across the street, shouting slurs at the Mexican school kids and taking their photos. "

Or this one:

LA VOZ DE AZTLAN NEWS BULLETIN
http://www.aztlan.net/arson_threat_school.htm

"Academia Semillas del Pueblo is a unique school that is chartered by the LAUSD and teaches the Nahuatl language, and focuses on Indigenous culture, history and heritage. The school came under attack by racists after the Walt Disney radio station KABC in Los Angeles targeted it's founder and principal Marcos Aguilar about 8 days ago. "

Also here:

Hate Radio and the Attack on Academia Semillas del Pueblo
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/June06/Santos08.htm

"For a month, KABC in Los Angeles had focused an unrelenting attack against the school Academia Semillas del Pueblo. KABC is an ultra-right talk radio station that carries Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, one that specializes in xenophobia and a thinly disguised hate-talk format aimed at the paranoids who think George Bush is a sell out liberal and who accuse Sen. James Sensenbrenner of not going far enough to rid the nation of Mexicans and other descendants of the indigenous peoples of North and Central America. Let’s make it plain: these are minutemen with microphones, and with the billion-dollar backing of Disney. "

"And now the minutemen have launched an attack on lo mas sagrado -- the most sacred thing, our families, our children; the children they despise and who they demean with the term “anchor babies.” No human being would endure it. No one allows their children to be threatened. "

"Investigators from the Los Angeles Unified School District have refuted minutemen claims that the curriculum and practices of La Academia are “racist” and “anti-white,” and also refuted claims that the school has violated its charter. "
