I had a wonderful childhood. I was also a loner who played by himself (only child), but I thought everyone in the world was my best friend and that everybody loved me and thought I was the coolest...I was wrong, but sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Just a few days ago, I did the most peculiar thing to recapture my childhood...

Well, when I was very, very little, my cousin and I were absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs. I mean OBSESSED. We lived and breathed dinosaurs back then (mid to late 80s). What kid isn't at that age (especially among boys)?

So he had a whole crop of really awful dinosaur movies that he and I would watch over and over and over and OVER again. I'm talking sci-fi B movies from the 60s and 70s. They were terrible, but we thought they were the coolest things in the world (even though we would make fun of them while watching them).

Some examples were "The Land Time Forgot," and "The Last Dinosaur."

But our favorite was "Planet of the Dinosaurs." It's a weirdo 70s movie about a bunch of space travelers who crash land on a...well...planet of dinosaurs. We watched that more than any of the others.

Recently, I found "Planet of the Dinosaurs" on Amazon.com for a measly 5 bucks and decided to order it. I am completely honest in saying that the last time I saw that movie was before I was 6 (probably younger). That would be about 16 or more years since I've seen it.

I'm waiting for it to get here any day now. It's stupid sounding, but it's going to bring back a lot of fond memories.

Reminds me of watching all those old Gozilla movies.

The sad part is, my cousin and I were really close as kids and did all kinds of fun stuff like that. Visiting him is probably where most of my fondest childhood memories are.

But I never see him anymore. He's four years older than me and in his umpteenth year of school. I think he's going to become a professor but I'm not sure.

I actually haven't seen him since we moved, which was in December 2004. So it's been a year and a half, and I hadn't seen him in a long time before that either.

I would just absolutely love for him to come visit and we could watch that cheesy old movie again. I just can't imagine the laughs we would have...not to mention the memories.

Hopefully, my uncle David could reading this right now (remember that he lurks on FR and reads my FReeptoons).

David: if you're out there, relay that message to Justin! I've got "Planet of the Dinosaurs!"

You should just ping him.

Better yet, get your cousin's phone number and give him a call this summer when he's done studying.

Ping him?

I dunno. They're supposed to make two yearly weekend visit every summer and Christmas. Justin didn't come to either last year for various reasons. I heard he felt terrible about not being able to come, though.

So far, I haven't heard any news on when they'll be coming up this year ("they" being my Aunt, Uncle, and Grandmother. And cousin, if he should come).

Hey, I'm gonna make a late-night meal here. You gonna be up still? Just curious. I'm waiting for Leno to come on. It feels weird staying up late again, like I'm doing something illegal.

Same here. I'm eating the last of the eggs and the taters. I need to go shopping tomorrow.

I am looking forward to this weekend's singles thread, I hope there will be a lot of people this weekend. Hubby is going away for another 4-day army training again and I will be home alone again with Scary Tree. When Hub goes away, we have no way of contacting each other until he's on his way home Sunday night so I will be ALLL ALLOOOOONEEEE.

SCARRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Huh boy. I wish I was in your position more often! Parents away for the weekend...although granted, I don't get as much FReeping done as I should in those circumstances.

I hope Scary Tree doesn't start acting up.

It has been like SUPER DUPER windy here too for the last week or so. It's insane.

Must be global warming.

Al Gore says so.
