Various motorcycle groups have gone to their state legislatures to ask for relaxation of the motorcycle helmet laws and to allow some exception based on medical insurance coverage or the completion of a motorcycle safety class.

As a motorcyclist (and I always were a helmet) that's encouraging unsafe activity.

I was in an accident w/ my bike (it was totaled) last summer. The car driver was cited on 2 misdimeaners (failure to yield and driver inattention). The policeman told my wife that she would be making funeral arrangements if it hadn't been for my helmet. I was in the hospital 4 days with many aches and pains, but recovered pretty well.

I'm a big believer in helmet wearing
