I believe ER workers have a name for the helmetless motorcycle rider: organ donor.
They have another name for motorcycle accident victims: squids.
"Serious condition" implies more than a concussion. Lots of people with head injuries seem OK at first but go downhill fast do to bleeding inside the skull.
