- No, Nifong has just squeaked out an election victory for another four year term based on his high profile prosecution
So who was proved correct by those results? Jarriel or the AV? or both?
I suppose if say, on May 31st if they told the AV that they found some DNA, not a Duke player, from the March 14th exam. Then asked her who else it could have been and she checks her date book and says Brian, Jarriel or Matt. I guess it's believable that she could have been off by a week. So maybe it's no big deal...
Maybe Baker just hasn't gotten around to talking to Shelton or reading his written report.
I have a hunch he does not----yet. Just a hunch, but it is based on what I have been able to find out about him.
I have only been able to find one traffic accident.
I also found a post in a guestbook of a black congregation from his mother dated May,2006 thanking all for prayers for her family. The tone of that post is unlike what we are used to hearing from AV supporters. I felt bad for her.
No Effort to Verify: So, if they would've asked Baker, he would've told them the accuser did NOT change her story.
Maybe Baker just hasn't gotten around to talking to Shelton or reading his written report.
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
YES, or the AVs own statements regarding Kim, etc.
Or AV's statements to Medical SANE regarding choking, drinking, anal sex
Or AV'ss statements of not having sex for a week, then providing 3 men's names when questioned after DNA results.
Kim's statement
If he picked up anything on this case, it would've been plain.
That one News and Observer is article SO Damning to Baker.
One would think the News and Observer would follow up in light of recent events.
The news & Observer is only interested in advertising revenue, not real news. They just dropped the stock listings to save three or four pages of newsprint.
Amen to that... And you know the boy must have some respect for others... At least he chose not to take an "exotic dancer" to his folk's house while they were home...;)
I just got a nasty e-mail back from them. At one point they responded with feigned courtesy. Then they didn't respond at all. Now, I get Nasty Mail.
I think they are very tired of this story. I think they don't know how to extricate themselves from the hole they dug by going after the privileged white kids with glee and fervor.
Actually the New Your Times dropped their stock listings too.
I think the real reason the Slimes dropped those was because watching NYT stock tank was depressing Pinch too much.
Tell us what they said.
I cancelled my subscription a couple of years ago, prior to the elections. They were SO BIASED THEY MADE THE TV NETWORKS APPEAR CONSERVATIVE! They still call from time to time, offering me deals on subscriptions. My response is always, "Have you changed your political position yet?" They hang up.
I agree with the two of you.
It's possible Jarriel J. is new to this stuff. He is living with his parents and washing his car and buffing a HO a lot (sounds young - at least immature, if not young in years).
Holey Schmoley!! The wheels are really starting to fall off now!! Good news to wake up to!
Re: Chalmers
The quotes I have read are "has said"s.
My guess on Baker is that he is Clement's butt boy ...

Clement: Thumbs up to manager

DURHAM -- With all that's been happening lately with the Duke lacrosse case and other events in Durham, elected officials need to give City Manager Patrick Baker a vote of confidence, Councilman Howard Clement said Thursday.
"I think it's time express our support for the manager that we have full confidence in what he's doing," Clement said during Thursday's council work session. "I think it's important to let Patrick know he's not out there by himself."
Clement's suggestion drew a round of jokes from his colleagues, and from Baker himself.
(snip)
Question:
Who approved Chalmers' leave of absence, the city council?
I think you mean the exotic dancer/escort/prostitution procurement/transportation industry.
Several posters have commented that in NC one can run for an office only once. Too bad. Black did a good job in handling the Michael Peterson murder trial and would have made Nifong look really bad by comparison.
"... it's how you play along."

Monday night, the City Council ignored the city manager's recommendation and gave George Williams the design contract for a recreation center.
Williams, the number-three choice of a city review panel for the job, is brother-in-law of venerable City Council member Howard Clement and is the same George Williams who, after being fired as Durham County manager in 1995, got an $11,000 contract to survey the city's cemetery needs, thereby safeguarding his retirement benefits.
Williams, by the way, has never designed a rec center before. If memory serves, he had never done a cemetery survey, either, but on that job Williams did deliver a set of recommendations, including one that Durham engage telemarketers for hawking burial plots. Just the pitch you'd want to hear at dinnertime, back in the days before do-not-call listings.
National Night Out on Tuesday advanced another Durham tradition, as two killings took place just hours after neighborhoods partied to take back the streets. Last year, there was a street corner shootout while the observance was actually going on, but nobody got killed.
Well, it's been a long, strange summer. Wild things have been reported all over town -- deer, raccoons, copperheads, burning crosses and the usual mayhem and murder.
Now, at least, we can approach the autumn looking forward to an election season worth watching.
Frankly, the chances of Wagstaff or any of her fellow challengers unseating incumbent Bill Bell look pretty slim, but in Durham it's never a matter of win or lose, it's how you play along.
So- the only criminals in Durham are athletes?
White Duke athletes. ;)
