If the bulb is lit but the unit's not getting a signal it should still be projecting something (blue screen with a message indicating no signal). So - is the bulb lit? Is there a blinking light (standby)?

I am not really sure. The projector is mounted on the ceiling. Hmmm...guess I will have to look tonight. I don't think the light bulb is on as nothing is being projected onto the screen but I also didn't notice if there is a blinking light on the thing. Will check it out.

This why I added that you sometimes have to hit the 'F8' key ("CRT/LCD" on my laptop) to get even a Blue Screen. I give a lot of presentations and there seems to be a million variations on these themes that, as I said, depend on the software and drivers.

Another weird little nuance is that some projectors must have their 'On' buttons depressed and HELD DOWN to get them to finally project.
