I'm getting an unexpected boost, as the powers that be, gave me permission to turn on most of my labs, for a 4th of july weekend session of patchlink updates. 6 whole days of un-interrupted folding. :)

You sure gave our team a huge boost! Keep it up!

As roadrunner used to say: "Beep! Beep!"

I'm on your "six" and gaining. At least for a day. ;-)

You are welcome to gain (but not pass).

All of mine are personal machines. They are my own, at my home, except for one belonging to my father. That one is his personal machine.

Three of the six are reeeallly slow.

It's a little embarrassing to admit I have six machines at home. But I do, and they are all used everyday for everyday stuff.

I actually have an HP laptop out on loan to a friend.

And I'm *that close* to having an old 550 MHz Pentium III up and folding as a linux box out in the shed.

I'm thinking your hardware must be first-quality super MHz stuff with copious amounts of RAM, unlike my flotsam and jetsam of iBook G4, deCeleron, and second generation Athlon.

Define "personal". ;-)

I own all but one of my folding machines. That one is a friend's ISP server.

Home/Hobby systems. Wish I could put the work ones to folding, that would make a difference.

And most of them are slow PIIIs (laptops), a P4 Laptop (my fastest), a Celleron (tablet), an older AMD 64 (about 2-3 years old now and it's my second fastest - desktop).

Seriously thinking about building a AMD 64X2 desktop (mainly for gaming/folding)

None of mine (except my wife's machine) are screamers. I've just, fortunately, got a lot of slower ones.

Yeah, I'm about to hit the Budget Committee up for a new machine. Getting tired of playing SecondLife with a frame rate of 8 FPS.

I'm getting about 200ppd a side on an Athlon X2 4400, OC'ed to 2.5

The computer that I am currently considering as my next box is an AMD FX60 2.6GHz dual core socket 939. I have considered the FX62 on socket AM2 but find the performance improvements to be unimpressive, and the FX60 is much cheaper now.

The AMD FX60 is $814 and the FX62 is at $1200 on newegg as of now.

IMHO, the FX is not, and never will be worth the money. You can build 2 boxes with the X2 and do a little OC'ing, for the price of an FX. Speed will only suffer a tad, and you have an extra X2 to play with.

Your mileage may vary.

I haven't had a chance to try re-installing it.

Probably next week when I do try.

AMD is discontinuing 1MB L2 cache X2s. I would not buy the FX if it were at its original price. I will use the FX60 in place of more expensive Opterons. I would rather have several multi-processor Opteron workstations in my core group, but a single FX will have to do. I only use the high end cpus in my core group. If I set up a bunch of clients, I would use the X2. I bought a cheap 2.0GHz Athlon 64 single core a few months back that serves as an archive for old versions of files.

The FX60 is ~$815 while the X2 4800 with 1MB is ~$630, this remains an option as long as it is still available. The Opteron 285 is ~$1100. The Opteron 185 is over $1000.

As for use, I am triple majoring in Mathematics, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, the use varies. But I will give some spare cycles to folding when I can.

Think it's about time for a new thread?

Another million points is a significant enough milestone, and this thread is pushing 300. Might get a little 4th of July bump.

Man, the curve is getting steep at this point. Throw in an unexpected 50,000 points, and all it does is cut your overtake time from 86 to 85 down from 7 to 2 days.... :)

Back there in "the pack" around Jan or Feb, that would have given us about 200 or so positional jumps.

Oh well... tossing the borg machine into a lower gear, and getting ready for a long uphill climb.

Personal stat wise, I'm in a chase with Killer Beagle from the EOC team. We've been swapping places, on and off, but right now, I've got him behind me on a 141 day overtake, and about a 3 position lead.
