Andy is Andrew Young, former mayor of Atlanta, among other things. And Freaknik was a black college Spring Break thing that was totally out of control, here in Atlanta. And I mean so totally out of control that the larger black community wanted it run out of town, and not just the local in-town businesses and white residents.

Bill Campbell - Duke grad.
I saw an interview with Andy Young about 7 years ago. The interviewer asked him a loaded "tell us about the South" question.
Andy's answer was so eloquent. He made it clear racism was not exclusive to the South. The bottom line was in spite of the past, in spite of the South he knew growing up, he is and will always be a Southerner.
While I disagree with Andy Young on a lot of political issues, he is at least dignified and sane to interact with, unlike, say, Al Sharpton.
And yes, damnyankees playing that card really annoy me, and I don't use that term for all Northerners, just those that would act thus. Anyone who thinks racism is purely the province of the South, needs to take a good hard look at events like school desegregation in Boston, for instance.
