How did your Brother-in-law make out with the flooding?

Last I heard he was looking to rent a pump to drain the basement. We stopped by a friend's house who lived across the street from the river.......no water in the basement - no water in the street in front of his house........and a view of the river to die for......he was one lucky guy.....way too many flooded bad this year. Flooding on their first floors, which had never happened before in the history of the village. So much for progress.....businesses are building up flood prone properties and building on top of them, which displaces water......bound to happen. Unfortunately, these historic homes never flooded before.
