I have an old version of Firefox and don't know how to upgrade it. I want to install either a new version of Firefox or Mozilla but before download the new one I have to delete the old version and this would leave me without a browser. IE is inactivated in the background and I have no intension to reactivate it because in no time the bugs and viruses will invade all my system. So my question is how can I install a browser without another functioning browser?
Thanks for any help.
Firefox 1.5 was a piece of crap with memory leaks galore.
I sure hope 2.0 isn't another hunk of junk.
FTP?
Depends on which version you're using.
If you're using 1.0.x, simply go to Mozilla's page, download the new version to your desktop, uninstall the current version, then install the new version.
If you're using 1.5.x.x, just go to Help -> Check for Updates.
Also, I think Firefox should update itself in the Options dialog. How old is your current version?
I think you can get an actual CD in the mail....
If so, then after acquiring the CD , you would uninstall the old and then install the new./
You have several options.
1.) Download and install Opera, and use it in the interim.
2.) Download SeaMonkey. I prefer the ZIP distribution, which can be downloaded from any Mozilla Mirror
3.) Using archive/compression software such as WinZip, WinRAR, etc., archive your current Firefox install directory (usually Program Files > Mozilla Firefox). Extract the archive to another directory on your HD, such as C:\Temp, then proceed with the un-installation of Firefox.
1) Download the new Firefox to your computer.
2) Uninstall the old Firefox.
3) Double click and install the new Firefox.
Voila.
I have dial-up with 22-28.8 kbps. Is it realistic to download FF at this speed?
Also, under HELP it says I have Version 0.9.2
I take computer in to shop every Oct for updates; this sounds like an old version. ???
Thanks
Ahem, perhaps you could download the new install exe BEFORE uninstalling your present version of Firefox?
Actually I think FF will update itselft in place.
