Former 'Idol' Hopeful Daughtry Returns to N.C.
(05/30/06 -- GREENSBORO) - "American Idol" finalist Chris Daughtry is set to return home to North Carolina this weekend.
Supporters calling themselves "The Friends of Chris Daughtry" say the McCleansville rocker will sign autographs Saturday morning at the McLeansville Shopping Center.
Daughtry is then scheduled to make an appearance at Macpherson Stadium in Greensboro from two to four in the afternoon.
Those who attend that appearance will be asked at the gate to make a five dollar donation for the Children's Home Society.
Daughtry worked at a Greensboro car dealership before rising to the finals of the widely popular T-V talent show. He was voted off this month.
Daughtry says he's now considering whether to pursue fronting an established rock band or launching a solo career.

Chris will be a big star - very talented guy
I haven't listened to FM in over two decades, but I really enjoyed his performances. Yes, he will be the biggest star ever from American Idol.
I love this guy and can't wait to buy his first album. Any word yet if he has decided to sign with Fuel?
I have mixed feelings about this guy. Average talent, poor attitude. I saw him on Ellen and a few other shows and he seems to be quite full of himself. He couldn't believe he didn't advance in the competititon. Well, sorry, Chris, but millions of us didn't vote for you, If one thinks highly of himself that's fine, but it's generally considered polite to keep those thoughts to yourself.
I don't think he will sign with them. He will be the biggest member of any band. mrdaughtry.com, a site constantly monitored by Mrs. DFU, has lots of info for you.
You are totally off on your assessment of him.
I really was hoping he would sing KEANE'S..."Somewhere Only We Know." I think his voice would be perfect for that song! Do you know the song I'm speaking about? It's being used in the trailer for the new movie THE LAKE HOUSE with Sandra Bullock and Keannu Reaves.
You can't be serious Hildy? That music is comletely different than his style.
I love Keane! I've had that CD for over a year now and I heard it played in a trailer for that movie. I agree with you (and never even thought of it before) that Daughtery would've been great on that song and even on some of their others.
I seldom listen to music or watch television. Being culturaly deprived, I don't know the song or the movie. I didn't know most of the songs Chris sang.
I've watched Idol off and on. Second years I was really into, this is the first year I really came back. Josh Gracin was the only one I ever personally felt attached to. Chris is now the second, I'm anxious to hear his first CD.
Not that I didn't like a few others, I liked Clay, just wouldn't run out for their CD's. Of this year's crop I'm wishing Elliot and Bucky well. Bucky will probably get a deal, little uncertain about Elliot.
I hope he doesn't sign with Fuel and decides to go out on his own. Man I love this guy's voice!!!! Thanks for the link too!
I hate to say it since I loved Chris but I think his "style" is what killed him. It's American Idol, not "heavy metal idol" or "hard rock idol" - hate to say it but it's true.
WAIT A SECOND THERE....aren't you the guy who posts all that music and reported live from the KODAK THEATER???????
Chris doesn't sing Heavy Metal, it's called alternative rock :-)
Would you have thought that Keith Urban's MAKING MEMORIES OF US was his style, but he did a pretty damn good job on that one and (to quote Randy Jackson)made it his "own." I think his voice would be perfect for it.
Well, it's not R&B Idol, but Taylor won.
