O God, O Abba, our heavenly Father,
grant to the leaders of our country
wisdom, courage and insight at this time of darkness and unrest and fear and war.

Give to all all of those who exercise authority
determination to defend the principles of leading their people wisely, through your guidance,
help give them the strength to protect and safeguard the innocent,
deal well with the wicked,
and protect their charges as you would have them do.
Remind them of the importance of acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with you as they fulfill their duties,
And fill their hearts with the knowledge of the way you would have them go.

This we ask through our Lord Jesus Christ.
