This God --
his way is perfect;
the promise of the LORD proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.
For who is God, but the LORD?
And who is a rock, except our God? --
the God who girded me with strength,
and made my way safe.
He made my feet like hinds' feet,
and set me secure on the heights.
He trains my hands for war,
so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Thou hast given me the shield of thy salvation,
and thy right hand supported me,
and thy help made me great.

Psalm 18:30-35

O Lord,
This day I pray for our nation.
Fill the hearts of your children,
and help them be salt and light,
together shining as brightly as a city set on a hill.
Look down on our leaders.
Strengthen the good and determination
to do the right thing in the hearts of those
who know your truths.
Lead those who would lead us astray onto straight paths,
or if it is your will,
make their actions fall until they too see your light
and long for your truth.
May they, led and empowered by you, our true Shepherd,
take just those actions that will protect our nation,
keep safe our borders,
help restore the rule of law, just and merciful,
where it has failed,
and bind the hands of those who would drag us into the darkness.

Open our eyes, O Lord!
Where we have done wrong,
teach us to turn back to you,
seeking your mercy and letting you heal our souls.
Where we try to do right,
strengthen us so we may complete the race.

O Lord, you are our help and our shield!
Be with us, our nation, and those we should care for
this day, and always.

In the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

A Prayer for America and
the Leaders of Our Nation

O God our heavenly Father,
whose love sets no boundaries
and whose strength is in service;
grant to the leaders of our nation
wisdom, courage and insight at this time of darkness and fear.

Give to all who exercise authority determination to defend the principles of freedom, love and tolerance, strength to protect and safeguard the innocent and clarity of vision to guide America into the path of justice and peace.

This we ask through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Deus vobiscum

God our Father,
King of the universe,
Ultimate Source of power and might,
look with mercy on those who rule over us.

Grant to our President and his administration the grace to know and do Your Will. Open their hearts and eyes to your plan for our nation, and ease the steps they take to reach this place. Let them serve all their people in truth and righteousness.

O Lord, with so much news about darkness in the ways and hearts of so many lawmakers, please help our Congress to rise above the corruption that has touched them, and may the men and women of good will who serve there with clean heart and hands inspire their fellows with the courage to make laws for the good of all rather than the few, for the good of the nation rather than playing for political advantage, for the increasing of the public good rather than some percieved theory of fairness that steps on the true public good.

In the name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.

Evening prayer ping

I, Wisdom, dwell in prudence,
and I find knowledge and discretion.
The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance
and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
I have counsel and sound wisdom,
I have insight, I have strength.
By me kings reign,
and rulers decree what is just;
by me princes rule,
and nobles govern the earth.
I love those who love me,
and those who seek me diligently find me.

Proverbs 8:12-17

O Lord,
Send forth your wisdom
into the hearts of all who must decide
how we as a nation will go.
Let those eyes who have been blinded
by pride or greed or a misconstrued sense of right and wrong
see the errors of their way.
May those who have followed you
find your wisdom guiding and guarding their every decision.
Fill their minds with the prudence and shrewd judgment
that will allow them to find the right path,
your path,
the path of mercy and justice and integrity,
to keep our country safe,
our judges just,
our laws wise,
our boundaries secure,
our people prosperous,
our future strong.

Help them make our light shine in a desperate and dark world.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Morning prayer vigil bump!

O Lord, My God, My King, My Creator, My Hope,
O Lord,
look kindly on this land you have blessed,
a land created both with the hope of finding you King and Master,
but also founded with greed and the hunger for riches.

Today, I ask you to look not so much on the sins of those
who choose to turn their backs upon you,
but on the faith of those of us who love you,
believe in you,
work for you,
follow you to the best of our knowlege and ability.

Lord, may our testimony and light shine before you.
Help us, then, by our example and love
to reach out to those who do not love or honor you.

Lord, help those who lead our country
come to the conviction of your righteousness,
may their hearts be touched with your truth,
not the truths of expediency or the desires of the world,
but those truths which build nations,
preserve justice,
offer hope,
allow us to find our way to you.

Lord,
there is so much anger and confusion in this land.
Help each of us, from the highest leaders down to the least of us
to learn our role in being salt and light and leaven,
each and every day,
for your glory.

In the name of Jesus, I ask this of Thee, o Father!

Amen.

To: All
For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man;
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,
to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:14-21

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT THIS GREAT COUNTRY!

Two Prayers for Our Country

Almighty God our heavenly Father,
guide our country into the way of justice and truth,
and establish peace which is the fruit of righteousness,
that they may become the kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Grant us, Lord God, a vision of our land as your love would make it:
- a land where the weak are protected, and none go hungry or poor;
- a land where the benefits of civilised life are shared, and everyone can enjoy them;
- a land where different races and cultures live in tolerance and mutual respect;
- a land where peace is built with justice, and justice is guided by love.

And give us the inspiration and courage to build it, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
