Regarding the Fireballs; is this the same group as in "Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs", who did "Sugar Shack" around 1963?

Always did like that song.

Yes it was. I think Gilmer joined the group in about 1968. Here's a bit of info about the Fireballs on CMT.
