Is that the FReeper who lives near there? Someone posted that they would be visiting and I asked for a report back and never got one!
Let us know - I told whoever it was to send some carrots for Rte66.
I wonder if he'll come with a removable cast?
When there is a local connection with a Breyer horse, Drennen knows to expect a bigger demand and orders more of that mold. This year, Oxford Feed and Lumber had a booth at the Wilowdale steeplechases, and raffled off an autographed model of Afleet Alex as a promotion for the day.
That Alex is one smart horse.
That would be so cute if it did come with a little removable (fiberglass, lol) cast!
(Also, how many evil little brothers are going to climb the bookshelves and ... well, do to the model horsey what they do to Barbie dolls, except to his leg.)
Mothers, keep you Barbaros under lock and key!
Lol, Barbie's horses can sign autographs, with a little horseshoe stamp on one hoof and a hot pink stamp pad. Somehow, I don't think Breyer would do that for Afleet Alex, though.
ditto......
Thank you for the ping.
Enjoy reading about our friend he is one tough horse who is loved by many.
no. Peter Brette is Micheal Matz's assistant trainer and exercise rider.
Oh, OK. I'd seen the name, but I thought it was here on FR or that was a FReeperFriend of yours. Wonder who that was who was going to visit on behalf of FR. *Oh, well.*
Go Barbaro Go!
Peter and his wife Kim visited him today. Peter curried him and Barbaro stood there with his eyes half shut and his lip curled. He was thoroughly enjoying it. Kim detangled his tail and brushed his mane and of course had plenty of carrots and mints. Kim said that he seems to be very happy and doing very well.
Barbaro Gets New Bandages; Radiographs 'Look Great'

Doctors at New Bolton Center's George D. Widener Hospital on Monday changed the cast on the hind right leg of Barbaro for the second time since the winner of the Kentucky Derby ... was injured in the Preakness Stakes on May 20.
"Barbaro is back in his stall and is doing well," said chief of surgery Dean W. Richardson, who replaced the cast he had put on Barbaro on June 13. "Also, we replaced two bent screws and added three new ones across the pastern joint. His radiographs look great, and he had another successful pool recovery."
Barbaro remains in intensive care at the hospital at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

So many times in and out of the anesthesia and swimming pool -- and sling -- let's pray he keeps holding up to it all. I *know* he will, "happy healthy horse" that he is, but still must pray. He's bent some screws - and gotten new ones!
Way to Go, Barbaro!
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO BARBARO AND ALL HIS FREEPER FANS!

You're most welcome this glorious 4th of July!
Excellent news .. that guy is a real trooper, God love him.
BUMP that!
He;s such a sweet horse.
So I'm taking a moment to tell you to tell Sally's Concerns that this gang of Barbaro FReeper Fans is wishing her a speedy recovery from *her* surgery and that she'll do as well as our favorite horse is doing!
And, of course, a very Happy 4th of July to you both from all of us - except any crotchety old FReeper sourpusses who don't like anybody, but I don't know who they are.
He sure is! Wish they could put some little flag stickers on that cast, lol.
Thank you both.
Barbaro what a trooper! We love you Barbaro!!
Happy Fourth of July to all my Fellow FReepers, and all the lovers of this lovely specimen of God's wonderful creation!
I am so happy that the news continues to be positive for this beautiful horse....one more step on the road to recovery is successfully completed. I will continue to keep this lovely boy in my heart, and mentioned in my prayers. Barbaro hasn't reached "recovery" yet, but he is on track. It's enough....for now.
