It sounds like the defense is affirmatively claiming the report indicates no such injuries existed.

The defense is and has been on a roll. I like to think they'd be smart enough to not try to claim a report says something specifically when it's really a case of absence of information. There is a very big difference.

And were the defense wrong about injuries and injuries noted in the missing SANE report pages, they would have been quickly leaked to the press by Nifong's office.

Also, everything positive for Nifong had to be in the discovery package or he risks having the judge not allow it in evidence. So what was omitted likely helps the defense.
