MN here is marcos2006's indictment of Nifong on the CourtTV message board with one clarifying remark by me in [] brackets. marcos2006 is responding to someone arguing as I have at times that Nifong believed he had a case based on the DNA at first:

he [Nifong] knew the various accounts of the AV, no rape, rape, no rape, rape.. He knew the three captains volunteer DNA samples and talked to the Police for 25 hours without a counsel.. We believe they offer to take a polygraph test..He knew she admitted to working for an escort service, its in the first report. He knew Kim made the first 911 Call and lied. He knew the Sane Reports said swelling.. He knew no tox screen was done. And more than likely he knew she couldn't pick out any attackers..

All of that was known in the very first days

With just that data he knew it was very suspect these charges would hold up..He should have let the police complete an investigation.

But he persued this case in the Public making outrageous claims & condemning the rape in the house. He demostrated how she was held & strangled from behind. I can only imagine the outrage in the AA community how this 27 year old college mother of two navy vet was sodmized, raped, forced to perform oral sex, & brutally beaten by white rich college players!

if a DA can knowingly, willing, and maliciously make these charges with such doubts surrounding them, then we need to make serious changes in our Justice System.. and we must find a way to punish him.. Of course I want a trial & this time the special prosecutor should be encouraged to listen to Nifong before he indicts..

I agree. Nifong trumped up the case to make it what he needed - an opportunity for him to be a hero in Durham. It would give him Name recognition and erase the inherent doubts about him in the electorate due to his race.
