The woman who has accused three Duke University men's lacrosse players of raping her failed to identify at least one of them in a photo array eight days after the reported attack, according to a motion filed Friday by defense attorneys. The motion also says that she then selected him as an attacker more than two weeks later.

I don't think the panthers would finance her defense. She's a loser and she's only valuable to them so long as she can be maintanied in an aura of black victimhood. Further, she might be forced to testify about mistreatment from a black pimp. They aren't going to want their signature on anybody with anything bad to say about a brother. There will be a lot more exposed about her employment as a hooker in the context of a civil case than there would be in a criminal case. The panthers are in it for notoriety and money, not because they give a rat's patoot about Mangum. They're just johns of a different stripe to her.
Good points, but I don't think they'll sue in federal court. Why would they, when they can sue in state court and get a Durham jury? That's what they want because their only hope at a win is a pathologically biased jury.
But if he waits to sue, she'll have more $ from her windfall civil suit!! ;)
Actually all the race baiters were after a big payday. Jesse Jackson shut up pretty quick after the offer to pay her tuition. I am sure Willie Gary saw a loser when he looked at this thing. The thought of the possibility of the falsely accused victims owning his fleet of jets if he got involved probably crossed his mind. The only ones that were dumb enough to make a show and attach their names to her have suddenly disappeared as well. Like rats jumping off a sinking ship.
How would the falsely accused end up with Gary Willie's jets?
What windfall civil suit? You mean a settlement from Duke? I'm not so sure Duke will settle easily because of the precedent it would set. They would be under tremendous pressure from alumnae and other universities to not settle.
Shep just did a short segment on Roberts day in court yesterday with footage, tongue shot and all. She was in court for violating her probation for failing to pay restitution, failing to attend appointments with her probation officer, and leaving the state while prohibited from doing so without permission. i guess this was just her arraignment.
It's no wonder the lax guys wanted them to leave and felt ripped off. Roberts is nothing to look at. She's not ugly, but she sure isn't pretty - pretty plain. Most of all, she always looks angry and mean. I strongly suspect she robbed Mangum. I wonder if Mangum has figured it out yet or at least suspects it.
A plaintiff can't recover a judgment award from a defendant's attorney. A plaintiff would have to have a separate cause of action against the attorney and sue him/her separately.
I don't know about suing the talking heads, either. That's a tough road to travel and seems like more of a distraction than anything else, and talking heads have plenty of resources to field a strong defense. Right now, the defense is ahead in the media war, so I think they'd be better off to just let the media carry their water. The fact that the NAACP wants a gag order is a strong indicator of that success.
With the client he would have the separate cause of action could materialize.
I think also a certain security guard in Atlanta took on CNN and won after they falsely accused him of the Olympic bombing.
In our society most anything is possible. I am generally opposed to the lawsuit mentality in the country, but in this case I would fully support the players in any effort they took to recoup their losses in this matter.
I am not a lawyer, but if I am sued in State Civil Court, can I waive a jury trial?
I was trying to be facetious. I meant all the cash she's going to be getting from her suit against the players, Duke, her limo driver, etc. (Sorry for the misunderstanding.)
But, it wouldn't be in a Federal Court though, correct?
The Durham gang certainly wants to keep everything in the local court system.
"But, it wouldn't be in a Federal Court though, correct?"
I don't think you can sue in a Federal Court unless you are alleging a violtion of a Federal (constitutional) right or issue.
Suing for recovery of damages isn't really a federal issue, but one for the state courts.
(Suing on the basis of being discriminated against because of your race is more in the line of being a federal issue.)
You are right, UNLESS, the womem from Durham are correct in that the Parents are on the lease of 610 N. Buchanan.
Hopefully, the son doesn't have money left to him that can be accessed. We don't know that Grandpa didn't leave him money, most families don't plan on 22-23 year old kids getting sued for millions. If a judgement is won against the 23 old, will it follow him for many years and prevent him from having assets?
From the the stuff coming out of Durham lately, I am inclined to think they (AV's and family, Lil Kim) are growing tired of the defense motions and the wait.
Her defenders on the Radio today wanted to talk about Civil liability. I think the AV and Kim want their ship to come in sooner rather than later. I see them putting pressure on Willie Gary and company, and Gary pushing back and telling them he should not sign on until later for the benefit of the case.
I can envision the AV and her family looking around and seeing all the local support and wondering why don't we just get the civil trial going, and them thinking that people from Durham are passionate enough to overlook any weaknesses.
I tend to think that Gary did not see this case as a big money maker for him. I certainly could be wrong and he may take her on as a client tommorrow, but for now I think she looks like a loser to him.
