It's a good idea to visit a store that has monitors on display, and give them a test run before purchasing. If it has great specs but colors and appearance that don't please your eye, it's not worth purchasing.Sounds like good advice to me.

that's the problem, what are great specs. for an lcd monitor. I really can't trust a salesman once i'm there, I will have to know before I go.
