I have both Sonic and Nero for the CD burning. On QuickBooks specifically, it saves in a CD Burning file, when I look at the path it is going to it says C:\Documents and Settings\(my name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning....but I can not find "Local Settings or anything beyond that when looking at Windows Explorer.
I tried to copy music also and it was not accessible, incorrect function. I can drag things into Nero or Sonic, but then even when I tried doing that with music, it does not play when I put the disk back into the computer or in a CD player

To view hidden files and folders: Double click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop, once there, along the menus at the top, click on "Tools" from there, then click "Folder Options", a box of folder options will open up. Click the tab at the top labeled "View" and make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked or ticked in the options window there.
Then click the "Apply" button, then click "OK" button, after you've done that you'll see the window blink, and hidden files and folders will appear in a lighter shaded text from files and folders that are not hidden.
Try this: From the "Tools" pull down menu, select "Folder Options," select the tab that says "View," then click the option beside "Show hidden files and folders."
That should let you see the folder that you are looking for.
Not sure I follow - but I think you're looking at the temporary image file the software creates before transferring to CD.

You need to enable the view of hidden files on your computer in folder options. Local Settings is a hidden folder in your profile.
I tried to go to the setup that this article suggested. When I click the enable CD recording on this drive and apply it, I get a warning message that says "By enabling "CD Recording Function", yuo cannot write to DVD-RAM. Do you still want to enable this setting?" I guess my E drive says DVD-RAM Drive (E:) CD Drive.
What is a DVD-RAM drive and do I need that capability? Should I still try to enable the enable CD Recording function?
I enabled this and then an icon appeared at bottom of desktop that had a message "you have files ready to bw written to the CD. So I clicked that and CD Writing Wizard appeared and says I successfully wrote them to CD. But, although I see them when I click the E drive (CD drive), when I try to open the files it does not do anything.

Oh, did not know RealPlayer could burn them, will have to try that. Yes, you are right, I admit I am clueless on this stuff, definitely could be operator error, but need help nonetheless.
Sheesh, make me feel like a tech support nazi. Oh wait, I am. :)
Are U running Win XP ?
Yes, Win CP Media Edition (although when I bought it, they told me it was supposed to be Professional Edition), but when I just went to My Computer and checked it said Media
CP = XP....can't type WinXP Media
you've got a DVD/CD combo drive ....
to burn CD's w/ XP it's simply drag & drop in win Explorer (or,rt click "send to" if on desk top)
To DVD burn, (if ya can) you need to invoke a program like nero.
So, open win explorer, scroll to item to be copied, >edit (or right click) >copy >../CD drive >edit >paste
(Nero burn sometimes can't be read on other 'puters.)
