I recall a study claiming caffeine improved test scores. PA schools certainly can't be against that.

According to Jolt's website, each piece of gum has as about as much caffeine as half a cup of coffee.

Seems pretty harmless, although it is interesting that they sell the gum in 100-pack "trial sizes."

Meanwhile the kids were lining up in the nurse's office to get their fix of Mountain Dew.

(For those of you who haven't had a child in school for a while, yes...they do that with a doctor's order.)

I actually was going to agree with the school at first sight especially if they have a rule for no chewing gum, but then when I read that article, it is a ridiculous reason and actually should be put in our "Joke article of the day." In fact, I think we should start one of those. During the day we read articles and then the following day the moderator puts it in the "Joke of the Day" file. That would be interesting.

jagoffs in Burrell getting suspended for GUM fercryinahtlahd.

Parents told Channel 11 they did not understand the suspension. Resident Elizabeth Grombacher said, "I think it's stupid. Everything's getting too politically correct it's so wrong." "It's probably just like Mountain Dew or something like that. If it's got a lot of caffeine in it and they probably sell the pop at school,” parent Nita Serene said

Haven't heard it called 'pop' in years.
Here in Texas all soda is called 'coke cola',
but there are a few folks who say 'soda waters'.

Jolt chewing gum has caffeine and ginseng.

I'd have to google this and see where I can purchase it. I remember Jolt soda. Next to Surge, it rocked.
