I wonder if that is true? If so, it is deplorable.

It would be a good idea to reserve judgment on the veracity of that quote. It sounds too convenient to be true. Look up the phrase "it's Giuliani time", which was supposedly called out by one of Abner Louima's police assailants as they allegedly raped him with a toilet plunger, but which turned out instead to have been an invention of racist demagogues who stood to profit politically from damaging Giuliani's image.

Understood, and believe me, I do. I only wish others would afford the same "reserve judgment" to the young woman involved.

LOL! I remember that well! It was our own Curtis Sliwa (Guardian Angel founder and WABC talk show host) who recognized the phrase from a then playing Spike Lee movie and cried foul.
