This sentence is written to give an impression of helplessness. She is lying on the floor because she is helpless, a victim. Men stand around the helpless victim holding beers--they are cavemen, cruel, uncaring. The stand while she lies there. They drink because they care so little....OR The drunk prostitute is passed out at a party she WENT TO VOLUNTARILY TO STRIP or whatever. They are not touching her but are marveling at a drunk ho passes out on the rug. Who would you even call in that circumstance? 'Ho be gone?
